Do the colors on an American Mah Jongg card correspond to particular suits?

The colors do not correspond with any particular suits. The colors blue, red and green are used to demonstrate how many suits must be used in a particular hand. The color has no connection to the actual suit that should be used. So, if a hand is shown in two colors, any two suits can be used for that particualr hand. Some hands require specific dragons, and if this is the case it will be written in parentesis after the hand (e.g. Greens and Reds only). These dragons may also be depicted in the hand as G and R for Green and Red, rather than the usual D.
