Who plays mahjong?

Mahjong is played all around the world, by a variety of age groups and genders. For example, Chinese Mahjong has generally been seen as a male-dominated game, whereas American Mah Jongg has predominantly been played by women of advancing years. That being said, people of all ages and genders enjoy the many Mahjong variants in circulation. Currently, we're beginning to see increasing numbers of men getting interested in the game of American Mah Jongg and some players are even teaching their grandchildren. Mahjong is exciting and challenging and appeals to players of all types.
